Pakistan formed 0.0001% of India’s imports in FY25

The closure of the Integrated Check Post at Attari has brought to a complete halt the already negligible trade between India and Pakistan. The shutdown followed the recent terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir.

In 2024-25, Pakistan accounted for just 0.0001% of India’s total imports—more than 1,000 times smaller than its 0.1% share in 2017-18. This slide from insignificant to minuscule began after the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, when India imposed a 200% import duty on goods from Pakistan.

A similar trend is seen in India’s exports. In 2024-25, only 0.12% of India’s exports were headed to Pakistan, down from around 0.6% in 2017-18—again, a marginal figure.
