A pilot has been left with serious injuries after losing control of their plane during an aerobatics display at the Avalon Airshow and crashed into the tarmac.
Victoria police said the incident occurred on Friday at about 5.15pm on the first day of the Avalon Airshow.
Police said emergency services were called to Avalon airport in Victoria after reports the plane had lost control and crashed into the tarmac while conducting a demonstration during an air show.
“The pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft sustained serious injuries,” police said.
“The incident occurred a significant distance away from spectators and there have been no reports of further injuries.”
The exact circumstance surrounding the crash were yet to be determined, police said.
